SmartMetric Sees 2018 as the Year of the Biometric Credit Card

SmartMetric is the developer of Biometric Credit Cards that use the SmartMetric inside the card biometric fingerprint scanner to lock and unlock the credit card before it is inserted into a Point Of Sale reader or ATM

NEW YORK, Jan. 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

SmartMetric Biometric Card
The in-the-card fingerprint biometric secured credit card by SmartMetric

SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCQB:SMME) –  SmartMetric the pioneer developer and inventor of the biometric fingerprint activated credit card is experiencing a high level of enthusiasm for its biometric in-card security solution from card issuing institutions around the World.

SmartMetric is the pioneer of in-card biometrics having spent over a decade in developing an extremely miniature fully functional fingerprint scanner that is less than a 1/3 the thickness of a standard credit card.

“A recent press announcement about a French based card manufacturing company releasing a biometric card in a very small country in Europe has validated the use of biometric credit cards.  The enthusiasm for our technology being shown by Banks both in the United States and around the World has convinced us that 2018 is going to be the year of adoption of biometric credit card technology on global scale, said today the President and CEO of SmartMetric, Chaya Hendrick.”

"Chaya Hendrick added, unlike the credit card announced the other day, our card has a built in rechargeable battery that allows the card to scan and match the card holders fingerprint instantly “prior” the cards insertion into a card reader.  We decided a long time ago that the card had to operate prior to insertion into a reader so as to work with not only all Point Of Sale retail card readers but importantly, ATM’s as well.  A card without a stand alone power source that operates before the card is inserted into a reader will of course not work in ATM’s since the vast majority of ATM’s swallow cards inside the machine and thereby does not allow the card to draw power from the machine to perform a fingerprint scan. From our dealings with Banks around the World we know of no serious large card issuer that is willing to issue a card that does not work in all card readers including ATM’s.”

SmartMetric holds issued patents and has others pending that cover its advanced biometric card technology. “We expect copy cats to jump on the band wagon of the technology we have pioneered and we are well prepared to protect our inventions," said Chaya Hendrick. "However we are not only relying on enforcing our patents but are releasing what we believe are the best suite of biometric card products in the market place for major card issuing Banks," said SmartMetric’s President.

SmartMetric biometric cards are available to Banks in the United States through SmartMetric’s industry distributor, PROTEC.
