The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, held a meeting with the Yango team on the sidelines of the ICT Forum.
The discussion centered around how Yango can enhance its services in Namibia through technology.
Yango is an international ride service that has expanded its operations to over 30 countries.
Headquartered in Dubai, Yango High Tech offers a range of services, including ride-hailing, public transport data, delivery, e-grocery, and AI voice assistants.
Launched in 2023 in Namibia, the platform has become considered the safest and most flexible transport mode for most Namibians and has created employment opportunities.
The discussion looked at how Namibia and Yango can partner to improve services, including job creation as well as piloting of new products and skills transfer, which Theofelus says would be critical components to the partnership.
Theofelus stated that Namibia has a conducive atmosphere for new products the company might want to introduce.
They also deliberated on how to promote, develop, and enhance the transport sector not only in Angola but on the continent.
The Director General of the NBC Stanley Similo, highlighted the great opportunity the broadcaster offers in information dissemination to a wider audience.
